Cake Poppin' ~ Fo' Rizzle

Cake pops are trendy bursts of cake and icing coated with a decadent frosting! What makes them pop, you say?! (Outside of their amazing flavor, that is.) Well, they have a nifty stick inserted in the center for easy holding, sharing, and, if you live on the nerdy side, pretending you're a jedi. ;] So, sit back, take notes, and learn to create your very own "melt-in-your-mouth" cake pops! Enjoy!

Step One:   Bake your cake! Let it rest until it's completely cooled.
(Don't be afraid of a box mix!)

Step Two:  Crumble the cake and place in refrigerator for about 30 mins to cool completely!

Step Three: Mix with 2/3 of a container of pre-made icing that compliments your cake's flavor.
(Use your hands to mix the icing in... Yes, it's messy, but lots of fun!)
Fun tip: It should be playdough consistency!
Scoop with a 1 tablespoon measuring spoon and roll into balls. Place on a tray lined with parchment paper and put in freezer for about 15 minutes.

Step Four: Melt down the chocolate or candy coating. Insert about a half an inch of each of the lollipop sticks in the chocolate or candy coating and stab into a piece of styrofoam. Let it harden.
(This creates, basically, an adhesive for the cake ball to stay on the stick.)

Step Five: Insert coated stick half way in the cake ball. Place back into freezer for 15 minutes.

Step Six:  Spoon your melted chocolate or candy coating on the cake ball, one at a time. Also, this is the time to add toppings, if that tickles your fancy.
(Not too much, or it may drip down the stick.)
Poke them into the styrofoam or cardboard/shoe box to harden.

Step Seven: Replace into freezer for about 30 minutes. Remove.
Now, they are ready to be wrapped or displayed however you please!

               Enjoy! :)
